Tallow, in it’s original form, comes from animal fat. Tallow can come from beef, deer, goats, and sheep. We use 100% beef fat, specifically beef suet fat for our balms and soaps. Suet is the fat that is around the kidney, pelvic region, and heart. Suet is superior to the rest of the fat in the animal because it is pure fat and it is high in vitamins and fatty acids and it is the cleanest to render. We render our tallow by cooking it in a lower temperature to remove as much moisture from the fat as possible to make it shelf stable.

We render down the beef fat into tallow ourselves, ensuring quality every step of the way. The rendering process consists of a long, slow cook on the fat, which is essential to effectively remove all the moisture and create a product that is shelf stable. After the fat is rendered, we then proceed to purify it, taking great care to make sure it is completely clear of any impurities, thus guaranteeing an extended shelf life for our final product.
